Developers (and IT folks in general) can be so far removed from the business that it feels like we're in our own world. How do we bridge that gap and form an understanding between business and technology? Let's start by learning a bit about business so we have a perspective on what's going on in the minds of business managers. Then, we have a good reference point for decision making. But where do we go from there? To find out, I decided to take an MBA program and start a business (at the same time). In this talk, I'll share some of the newfound perspectives I have as a software developer taking MBA courses. I'll also share what it's been like so far to own a single person small business. Hopefully, you'll be inspired to pave your own way to the American dream!
